Church Covenant of McIntosh Baptist Church (2025)
Knowing both our transgressions and the Lord’s saving grace, we commit ourselves to God and to one another in a church state, by the power of the Holy Spirit and according to the apostolic teachings in Scripture. That he may be our God and we may be his people, through the everlasting covenant of his free grace, in which we trust we are accepted by him solely through the gospel of his blessed Son Jesus Christ. Therefore, we pledge, by his grace:
To strive for this church’s holiness, knowledge, and unity by regularly gathering with the whole church for worship and fellowship, and by upholding its services, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines. (Heb 10:24–25)
To contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the Church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all the nations. (1 Cor 9:14; 2 Cor 9:5–7).
To serve joyfully by using our God-given gifts to build up the church in maturity, unity, and mission under the leadership and care of the pastors that God has entrusted to shepherd our church. (1 Cor 12:7; Eph 4:11–16; Heb 13:17)
To engage in the ministry of the Word through regular private devotions, family worship, discipleship, evangelism, and missions. (Ps 1:2; 78:4; Matt 28:18–20)
To endeavor to lead the children in our care to love God and believe on Christ; that God would receive the full glory he deserves. (Deut 6:6–7; Eph 6:4)
To walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our conduct; avoiding all gossip, sensuality, and unjust anger; stewarding our lives to glorify God among the lost. (1 Peter 2:12; Col 3:5–11)
To watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember one another in prayer; to aid one another in sickness, persecution, and distress; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation. (1 Cor 12:26–27; Matt 18:21–22)
And at last, we pledge that if we leave this congregation, we will join another gospel-preaching church, as soon as possible, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
